Sunday, December 11 is four weeks since the gruesome November 13th murders of Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Madison Mogen, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Ethan Chapin, 20, in a house across the street from the University of Idaho Greek Row.
The three women lived there together, and Chapin was visiting his girlfriend, Kernodle. Chapin lived in a frat house only about 200 yards away. According to Moscow police, the coroner said all four victims were likely asleep, some had defensive wounds, and all were stabbed multiple times in the torso. They appear to have been stabbed to death with a large, KA BAR style knife.
Police have not named a suspect, nor any persons of interest, except that they were looking for the driver of a white car that was seen on the night of the crime near where the students were killed. That police are looking for the car, a white 2011 -2013 Hyundai Elantra, is the biggest development they’ve had so far.
The police did not say that the driver of the car was a suspect, but that the driver and any passengers might have “critical information” about the killings. They said they did not have a license plate number for the car.
According to a report in the NY Post, the killer was sloppy and left a mountain of forensics work. According to Steve Goncalves, “They’re telling us that there’s so much evidence that it’s going to take a lot of time to process it all,” the father of 21-year-old Kaylee, said. “This wasn’t like a pinpoint crime. This person was sloppy.”
