Twitter had a secret child pornography problem that appears to have sustained with impunity for over many, many years.
They allegedly refused to take at least one video down, resulting in a victim, John Doe #1, coming forward to sue after the video was seen over 10 million times, alleging that Twitter profited from their victimization.
The same day this story broke, three members of Twitter’s “Trust and Safety Council” resigned with a lengthy diatribe about how safety had been compromised in the era of Elon Musk, and Bloomberg ran an article about how Musk had gutted the team responsible for dealing with child sexual abuse materials.
Meanwhile, child sexual abuse survivor advocates cheered the swift and compassionate response of the new executive team, who held a virtual discussion about the material that was found and what would be done about it, while showing outrage at the former responsible parties for their complete inaction.
